The first step toward creating harmony and balance through soul-self connection, and ultimately health, is to connect with the natural healing abilities of your personal energy. Your personal energy, also known as your aura, is the life-force energy that moves through and around you.
The core of this life-force essence within you is your soul-self. Your soul-self is your authentic essence. It is the Spirit that came into your body when you were born, and it will live on after your physical body dies. It is the energy source that makes up your energy field and your true being. It is your connection point to universal energy, to the divine, to God, Goddess, and Spirit. It is the God- like, Goddess-like, Christ-like, Buddha-like divine part of you.
Being in touch with this part gives you a sense of solidness in your center; it is the source of your creative and infinite power to design your world. It is your gut feelings, your senses, your intuition, your inner knowing, and your wisdom. It lies underneath your daily doings and the chatter of your mind. It is free from emotion and attachment to worldly aspirations.
Your soul-self, without the chains of the world, feels wild and free like when you were a child. And although it is childlike, it is not childish. It is excitement and passion. It is primal and authentic. It is dynamic and empowering. When you are aware of, and connected with, this powerhouse within you, you are creating harmony and balance and, therefore, self-healing.
Reawakening the divine self
To reawaken this powerful aspect of yourself, you must open to your deepest, most inner core. You must take the time to sit still, to just be, and to quiet down your mind and the “doings” that distract you from knowing your authentic self. The techniques described in this blog will help you create a direct connection, relationship, and dialogue with your inner soul-self through relaxation, mind focus, awareness, quiet contemplation, and inner stillness.
As you practice these techniques and begin to connect with your soul-self, you will become aware that you are an energy being, a spirit, in a human body. Because you are made up of energy, your personal energy forms a natural link to the universal life-force energy that exists everywhere and in everything.
People worldwide give this energy a divine designation of many different names: God, Goddess, Universal Power, Higher Power, Universal Source, the Great Web of Life, the Great Spirit, the Great Mystery, Allah, Prana, etc. Multitudes of people have argued and fought over the names for centuries, but beyond the philosophies and dogmas is an energy that, no matter the name, is a life force that lives inside each of us. It is the Spirit that moves in all things and gives all things life.
Whether you believe in the divine or not, whether you follow a specific religion or not, this universal life-force energy affects you both internally and externally. It is oneness with your “godliness” and the web of life that your soul-self yearns to be connected with at all times.
In your natural state, you are not separate from this great energy. It is only in the disconnection that a separation exists; when you are separate from this energy, you are out of harmony and balance. When you connect to it, you are no longer separate from the oneness of the Great Web of Life. Harmony, balance, and health are the end result.
Taking the aid of Helpful Spirits
Many people are familiar with the term “Spirit Guides,” energy beings that guide and teach us and are ambassadors of the Great Web of Life linking us to its powerful energies. People who connect with the universal life force through the divine link of helping Spirit Guides find it to be an intimate and personal experience.
Connecting with Spirit Guides and the universal life force can be facilitated using the same methods we use to connect with our soul-self, and often this occurs simultaneously. The techniques of visualization, self-hypnosis, energy healing, meditation, and journeying written on this website are conduits to facilitating this connection.
Establishing the Soul self connection
The process of soul-self connection is threefold: making the initial connection, staying connected, and then reconnecting whenever disconnection occurs.
Once you have established your connections with your soul-self, Spirit Guides, and the universal life force with the techniques described in further blogs, it is important to maintain that connection by establishing a habit of practicing these techniques throughout the day.
By being full of energy and maintaining consistent energy flow, you can prevent depletion from the daily energy drains of busyness and stress, thereby warding off fatigue and illness.
I recommend instituting at least one fifteen-to-twenty-minute segment and several mini-segments of two or three minutes per day to keep your energy flowing. Train yourself to check in periodically throughout the day to assess your connection and energy flow by creating habits in your routine that become conditioned reminders.
Maintaining the soul self connection
Equally as important as your initial connection and staying connected is your ability to reconnect when you become disconnected. Inevitably, no matter how diligent you are at remembering to stay connected, you will become disconnected from time to time.
Illness, pain, and discontentment are often the signals that inform us of disconnection, and they should be viewed as messages to this effect. Many of us initially lost connection with our soul- self through societal expectation, busyness, and lack of awareness. We were taught to achieve, “do,” and produce, rather than nurture our self and our souls. We weren’t taught about the importance of maintaining a healthy connection with our soul-self, so this is new to us.
Even if we have practiced connecting for several years, we have had many more years of experience not connecting. We unconsciously fall out of connection, harmony, and balance from time to time. Sometimes even with our best conscious attempts to remain connected, life’s events rock our world, causing us to disconnect. Whatever the cause, you don’t have to start all over again from square one; you just have to start again. Connect again using the techniques that worked for you before and keep connecting.
Correcting the disconnection
To reconnect throughout the day does not require any extra time or elaborate practice, only simple intention and attention.
Set an intention to take care of yourself and make your health your priority. Pay attention to your body, mind, emotions, and soul. It is not always easy to notice when you become disconnected, so keep checking in with yourself to see how you are doing.
Be mindful, noticing how you feel physically, then emotionally, then mentally, then spiritually.
- Is there any tension, tightness, stress, fatigue, or pain anywhere?
- How are you holding your body and carrying yourself?
- Are you angry, sad, depressed, anxious, uptight, frustrated, or confused?
- Are you experiencing a racing mind, circular thoughts, headache, or mental fatigue?
- Are you feeling empty inside, disconnected, or lost?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, take in a deep breath, relax your muscles, quiet yourself, listen to your internal messages, and reconnect as soon as possible.
Recognizing the disconnection
Sometimes disconnection is obvious. One typical signal of soul-self disconnect is a return or worsening of the symptoms that demanded your attention in the first place. Also, do not be surprised by the appearance of new symptoms heralding the message of disconnection and further imbalance in the form of mental, emotional, spiritual, and/or physical discomfort.
No matter how the signal appears, as soon as you become aware of a negative change, begin reconnecting to the wisdom of your soul-self and the universal life force using the self-healing techniques written on this website.
For example, you are driving to an appointment and notice that your back hurts. Typically in the past you might have ignored it or taken an analgesic. Now you are choosing to take a different approach. Take in a deep breath, quiet your thoughts, and listen to the message of the pain. What is it trying to tell you? Be patient and quiet, listen, and feel, using all of your senses. At the same time, mindfully run energy through yourself using one of the energy movement visualizations. Pay particular attention to moving the energy through the painful area to be sure you remove the blockage and fill with healing energy.
Remember to breathe deeply into your stomach, sit up straight, and open your chest to let the air and the energy flow. If you are in a situation where you are unable to bring yourself back into connection and balance right away, do so as soon as possible. Excessive stress will compromise your immune system, impair healing, or cause a relapse.
Another cause of disconnection is energy loss. Your personal energy is spent and dispersed in enormous amounts throughout the day. The self-healing techniques you will learn reconnect you with energy, yours, and universal, replenishing your depleted energy.
Maintaining an energy connection also helps you to remain aware of what is happening in your body, mind, emotions, and soul. With greater awareness, you will more easily sense when you feel out of sync or when something out of the ordinary is pulling on your energy.
By becoming aware of this imbalance more quickly, you can then identify the source, situations, places, people, and your internal triggers and reactions that deplete your energy sooner.
In so doing you can take appropriate steps to vanquish this drain from your life or protect yourself by drawing in more universal and personal energy to fortify yourself, preventing destructive depletion.
